Wake on lan linux nickollas Debian 8 Jessie Wake-on-LAN is an Ethernet networking standard that allows a server to be turned on by a network message. To make Wake-on-LAN (WOL) work on CentOS 6.2, you must first make sure it is enabled in the BIOS. What it’s called will depend on the BIOS. On our server it’s called “Wake from PCI device” and “Wake from PCI-E device”. I vaguely remember seeing some that explicitly say “Wake-on-LAN”, but the point is that it will all depend. Remotely Wake up your Computers with Wake On Lan. Kodi (XBMC) Linux; MacOS X. These steps seem to work for CentOS and Fedora as well. First we need to determine whether the network card (NIC) supports WOL. Sudo apt-get install ethtool). Sudo ethtool Here is the device name of your NIC, for example. In this CentOS 7 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 tutorial we take a look at how to configure Wake on LAN (wol) and how to suspend or hibernate your system. Wake On LAN is a hardware feature so you'll need to make sure that the BIOS of the system is configured to use Wake-up on LAN (wol). CentOS 7 or RHEL7 Installing a Development Environment. Wolcmd 192.168.1.235 255.255.255.0 7 Wake On Lan signal sent to Mac Address via Broadcast Address 192.168.1.255 on port 7 I have double-checked the MAC address, and I ran the wolcmd.exe command as Administrator. However, it no longer wakes up my server.

Because you chose Basic Server, then you need to install GUI for it.

From terminal, type:

To switch to GUI environment, you type:

Install Wake On Lan Centos 5 7

To edit default runlevel having GUI, you must edit file /etc/inittab

init 5 shuts down a server, me not being a linux expert i did this, caused a issue. The server i was working on was remotely hosted and I had a to contact hosting support for them to reboot as i don't have anything like wake on lan setup.
Please change this to a reboot command or place a warning that this will shut down not restart the server Thank you
